City Council Notables

Pioneer Park

In August 2022, the City broke ground on the The Port's Pioneer Park and Playground project, which marked the start of a nearly year-long construction project, a decade in the making. To date, there has been significant progress to the amenities at the playground, which includes Gator Gulch play sculpture; Banyan Basin's water play and wading stream; the Schooner play sculpture; the Jungle dome; and a Robinia-wood swing set, among many other breathtaking features. The Riverfront Stage, overlooking the St. Lucie River, where there will be live entertainment, also is taking shape. The stage is strategically positioned across from our famous banyan tree, creating the perfect setting for evening River Nights concerts. I look forward to early 2024 when we cut the ribbon and unveil this one-of-a-kind park!

Selvitz Road Sidewalk

On April 24, City Council unanimously authorized a supplemental agreement with FDOT, for additional federal funding for the sidewalk construction on Selvitz Road, from Floresta Drive to NW Bayshore Boulevard. This FDOT funding will add to the existing Local Agency Program (LAP) funding, therefore reducing the City's funding contribution. This is yet another step towards one of the City's goals to provide residents with high-quality infrastructure and facilities as set forth in our Strategic Plan.

I also held a similar meeting in the Vitalia community on May 2.

For those who were unable to attend, please click here to see the recorded meeting. A copy of the PowerPoint can be found here

Please note: The PowerPoint has been updated since the meeting based on residents' and Planning and Zoning Department's feedback. The PowerPoint is intended to be a supplement to the video.

NICE Neighborhood Socials

NICE Neighborhood Socials are a perfect opportunity to strike up a conversation and meet your neighbors. Ask questions and provide input on various city projects and events. The strength of our City is in our 35 neighborhoods.

Have giant-sized fun at Port St. Lucie’s NICE Game Nights. Join us for eight neighborhood socials with games, activities, free food, giveaways and more. These social events encourage residents’ input on community issues and help develop plans for the neighborhood’s needs.

In addition to games, residents are invited to join the conversation and chat about re-working the swale, Code compliance issues and various ways on how to stay informed about City news and programs.

The meeting includes free educational fun for all ages.

The St. Lucie County Boys & Girls Club is partnering with NICE to provide free hamburgers and hot dogs at neighborhood socials.
