A Month of Connection and Growth

Greetings Ministry Partners,

October 2024 has been a richly rewarding month in the CCI Central American Ministry. It started with Pastor Hamid Gutiérrez of Guatemala traveling to Belize with Andres Hernandez to teach Book #4. We are so excited about the progress this class is making in the curriculum. At the current rate, this class will graduate by the Spring of 2026. This was a fantastic opportunity for our Guatemalan staff to partner with the Belize partners and students.

My wife Sandra and I traveled to Guatemala and Honduras at the end of the month to conduct conferences and meetings for future ministry. Sandra and Charlotte Hernandez, our Guatemala Administrative Coordinator, conducted two Women's Conferences: one in Mazatenango, Guatemala, and the other in El Progreso, Honduras. The conference in Honduras may have opened the door for several future Women's Conferences.

While in Guatemala, the CCI staff held a meeting at Mazatenango to plan for 2025 and expand the work in Honduras and El Salvador. In November, Charlotte Hernandez will travel to a new region in Honduras to meet with pastors in hopes of starting new classes there. Pastor Otto Echeveria is working to start work in El Salvador, our target country for 2025.

Charlotte and I also met with the administration of the Guatemala Baptist Seminary to strengthen our partnership and begin planning for joint projects in 2025. The seminary expects to graduate their first six students using the curriculum in January 2025.

In Honduras, I met with the pastors and association leaders in El Progreso to plan the class schedule for 2025. The pastors in this region are excited about the partnership with CCI and the BTCP curriculum. We anticipate our first Honduran graduation in the Spring of 2026. When I return in February, I was invited to conduct a seminar and a BTCP overview on the island of Roatan. This could provide an opportunity for a whole new work on that island.

We appreciate your prayers and support.

Staff Update

  • Hamid continues to teach and oversee classes in the Quetzaltenango area of Guatemala. He traveled to Belize in October to teach Book #4 and is headed to Honduras to teach that book again in November.
  • Charlotte continues to handle the administration and supply classes with books. In October, she also assisted Sandra in conducting two Women's Conferences: one in Guatemala and one in Honduras. She is making two ministry promotion trips in November: one north of Guatemala City and one in Ocotepeque, Honduras. She also handled all the logistics for my October trip to Central America and Hamid's trip to Belize.
  • Otto continues to teach and oversee classes in the Coatepeque region. In October, he and I led a staff meeting in Mazatenango, GT.

Charlotte and I met with administrators of the Guatemala Baptist Seminary (photos above) to discuss the upcoming graduation and ways to strengthen our partnership. The seminary leadership is very excited about our partnership going forward.

Belize

Hamid taught Book #4 in Belize in October. Andres Hernandez traveled with him to be his interpreter. Now Justin will prepare the class for Book #5, and I will go down to teach in February.

Honduras

My wife Sandra and Charlotte Hernandez conducted a Women's Conference in El Progreso. There were just under 60 ladies in attendance.
