MARCH 2026

March has been a powerful month for Habitat LA. From the momentum of Advocacy Day to the energy of the LA Marathon and an unforgettable Builders Ball, we've seen what’s possible when community shows up with purpose. Each moment—on the course, at the Capitol and in the room—moved us closer to a future where more families have a safe, stable place to call home.

We’re so grateful to have you as part of the work that makes it all possible.

A Night to Remember

Thank you for a spectacular Builders Ball

What an amazing evening!

On Thursday, the Los Angeles Builders Ball brought together an incredible community united by one powerful idea: everyone deserves a place to call home.

Because of you, the night was a true success. From the energy in the room to the generosity on display, every moment reflected what’s possible when people come together with shared intention.

Our auction was a success, and it’s all thanks to you. Your bids and support helped turn unforgettable experiences into real impact for families across Los Angeles.

Hearing from wildfire survivors and seeing their resiliency was a standout highlight, and showed how critically important our work is to the foundation of our community. To our sponsors, donors, partners and guests: thank you for showing up, for giving generously and for being part of this mission.

Together, we’re building more than homes—we’re building hope, stability and opportunity.

More Than a House: The Power of Homeownership for Women

In pursuit of empowerment and opportunity

This Women’s History Month, we celebrate how homeownership transforms and empowers the lives of women, especially single mothers. More women are leaning into homeownership as a reliable path to financial independence and secure housing—and that momentum continues to grow.

The National Association of REALTORS® reports that more single women have become homeowners since 2015. In 2025, they made up 21% of all homebuyers, compared to 15% a decade earlier. Among them, nearly one in four were buying their first home.

This marks a meaningful shift toward economic and housing security among women. Every mortgage payment builds equity toward long-term wealth. But for many women, the impact extends beyond finances.

Homeownership is a catalyst for change today and an anchor for tomorrow. It breaks cycles of housing insecurity and creates expansive opportunities for the next generation to build on. For single mothers, homeownership creates a safe, consistent haven for their children to thrive without the disruption of frequent moves and pressures of rising rent.

This ripple effect is what drives our work at Habitat LA. We do more than build houses—we have the honor of partnering with resilient women and families by helping them achieve housing stability, financial freedom and a stronger future.

Advocacy in Action

Elevating affordable homeownership

One of the most powerful moments of Advocacy Day took place last month, when Sen. Jesse Arreguín and Assemblymember Nick Schultz formally presented resolutions in both houses of the California Legislature.

These resolutions recognized the critical role of affordable homeownership—and the importance of sustained funding for CalHome—in addressing California’s housing crisis.

From the gallery, Habitat advocates watched as legislators elevated homeownership as a key part of the solution, highlighting pathways that create long-term stability and generational wealth for families across the state.

The moment brought statewide visibility to Habitat LA’s work, reinforcing a shared commitment to expand access to affordable homes for Californians.

Team Habi Went the Distance

2026 Los Angeles Marathon.

On March 8, Team Habi showed up strong at the LA Marathon, and we couldn’t be prouder. From first-time runners to seasoned racers, every mile completed was powered by purpose.

Our team didn’t just take on 13.1 miles, they ran for safe, stable and affordable housing across Los Angeles. Because of their dedication—and the incredible generosity of our donors and supporters—every step taken is helping build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

To our runners: your discipline, heart and commitment inspire us. You trained for months, pushed through early mornings and sore legs, and crossed that finish line with something bigger than yourself in mind.

To our donors and supporters: thank you for fueling this journey. Your contributions turned miles into impact and determination into real change for families in our community.

This is what it looks like when a community shows up for each other. And trust us... this is just the beginning. 💙
