MBFT Activity Roundup

During October, the Community Seafood program made deliveries to Al & Friends and Grey Bears. Melissa attended the 50th Annual Zeke Grader Fisheries Forum in Sacramento on 10/1. You can find a summary from her recent Director's corner. During a family trip to the east coast, Melissa toured the fishing community of Menemsha and met with the executive director of the Martha's Vineyard Fishermen's Preservation Trust. A similar entity to MBFT, they also run a wholesale seafood cooperative. Theirs is an inspiring story of a small community working together to promote local seafood. She also attended a rally on 10/29 led by the City of Santa Cruz hosting several key elected officials from our region to speak out against plans by the Trump Administration to allow offshore oil drilling and mining exploration off our coasts. Coalition building is in progress, and more support will be needed to push back against this effort. Please reach out if you would like to support the regional effort to stop offshore oil exploration.
