Late summer brings some of our most productive fishing days, and we hope you've been making the most of the season with strong catches and busy dock sales! As we head into fall, we want to make sure our newsletter is serving you well—please tell us what's most valuable by taking just a few minutes for the Buoy Bulletin Survey. Don't forget about our monthly Office Hours coming up on September 4th from 12-1pm, and read on for the latest updates and opportunities!

MBFT Activity Roundup

This month, we've maintained our ongoing efforts to promote local seafood suppliers, dock sales, and restaurants that support our fishing community. Melissa presented to the Fish and Game Commission's Marine Resources Committee about specific challenges facing Monterey Bay—you can watch the recording here (6:48:00). We've been actively engaging with state leadership, including outreach to Senator John Laird to discuss revitalization of our working waterfronts, and we submitted a comment letter on the Ocean Protection Council's strategic plan urging stronger actions to support resilient fishing communities. If you applied for the MREP workshop in October, please apply for one of our scholarships to support your time in attending. If you have additional ideas for ways we can be supporting the local fishing community, please let us know.
