For the past 25 years, White Plains has celebrated the contributions of Irish Americans to our community with a rousing parade.
This year's parade starts at noon on Saturday, March 8, at the intersection of Old Mamaroneck Road and Mamaroneck Avenue and will proceed down Mamaroneck Avenue, turn right on Main Street, and continue past City Hall. Rain or shine.

Grand Marshal is His Eminence Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan.
Special Aide to the Grand Marshal is White Plains resident, David Walsh, born in Ballina, County Mayo Ireland. Additionally, Colleen Wall and Westchester County Police Officer Vincent Finnegan, Jr., have been selected as the first ever Rising Lad and Lassie. They represent the under 30-age group.
Aides this year are: Paul Thomas, Jed Forney, White Plains Firefighter Thomas Devine IV, Nancy Ryan Tirone, Elizabeth Doherty DiLullo, and Caroline Molloy.

185,000+ Daffodils Will Bloom in WP This Spring | |

Since its inception in 2014, White Plains Beautification Foundation's (WPBF) The Daffodil Project has brought over 185,000 golden daffodil bulbs to life across our city. This incredible effort has been made possible through the invaluable support of the City’s Department of Public Works and WPBF's dedicated volunteers.
WPBF's goal is to plant tens of thousands of daffodils each fall for a decade, creating breathtaking spring displays that bring joy to passersby and enrich our community’s landscapes.

White Plains Tree Watcher Program Takes Root | |

Following an All About Trees training session on February 26, White Plains residents are ready to be Tree Watchers.
The group received training on tree identification, tree health, and tree care from the Westchester Cornell Cooperative Extension. Now they will embark on a six-month adventure adopting ten trees across White Plains, monitoring their growth, and documenting their progress.
It's all part of the White Plains Urban Forestry Project. And you can branch out and be a Tree Watcher, too. Click here to learn more.

Lifeguard Training Classes Available This Spring | |

Any deep water swimmer age 15 or older can take lifeguard training classes this spring in the White Plains High School pool. Here are the details:
- Swim evaluation at 6 pm on Wednesday, March 12. Free. Must register in advance.
- Six classes on Wednesdays & Thursdays from March 26 to April 10 from 6-8 pm in the White Plains High School pool.
- Fee is $400.

The 2025 Spring Summer Guide will be available online beginning Monday, March 10.
The Guide contains useful information on recreational programming for people of all ages, parks, facilities and special events. Registration for Spring & Summer classes and programs opens on Monday, March 17.
There's something for everyone to participate in and enjoy.

Share Your Thoughts on Waste Reduction | |
Westchester County’s Department of Environmental Facilities (DEF) will be conducting a second public information session to afford residents the opportunity to provide their thoughts and comments on waste reduction. | |
|
The meeting is scheduled for March 12, from 7:30 to 9 pm at the Westchester County Center. At the session, DEF and Barton & Loguidice will outline the study’s goals, and attendees will have up to two minutes each to provide input. As the session is limited to one and a half hours, those wishing to speak are strongly encouraged to pre-register here.
For those who would like to provide their input but are unable to attend, they will have an opportunity to submit written comments here through Wednesday, March 19 at 5 pm.

White Plains Youth Win Awards at Black History Month Event
White Plains children earned 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards at a White Plains/Greenburgh NAACP Black History Month program in early February.
Byron Smalls and Amy Flowers of the White Plains Youth Bureau team worked with children from the Ferris Avenue and Church Street Before School Programs on special art projects for the contest. Byron and Amy celebrate with the students in the accompanying photo.
