If Mother’s Day
By Bishop LaTrelle Miller Easterling
If Mother’s Day is a day you are celebrated for being a birth mother, I join with those who celebrate you.
If Mother’s Day is a day you are cherished because you chose to open your heart and home to one in need of love, I rejoice with those you welcomed.
If Mother’s Day is a day you are celebrated for mothering others through the joys and vicissitudes of life, I give thanks for you.
If Mother’s Day is a day you are imprisoned by the guilt of poor choices, decisions, or actions, may the balm of divine forgiveness wash over you and anoint you with peace.
If Mother’s Day is a day you relive the trauma of releasing the flesh of your flesh back to God far too soon, I weep with you.
If Mother’s Day is a day you mourn the loss of your mother in the earthly realm, I pray comfort for you.
If Mother’s Day is a day you lament because you carried a child in your womb but never your arms, I lift you before our Blessed Healer.
If Mother’s Day is a day you resent because you did not feel the tender touch nor soothing embrace of a mother, I receive your truth as you experience your pain.
If Mother’s Day means nothing to you at all, may you simply be allowed to be.
Blessings to all this Mother's Day.
