Following our recent Synod Parish Deacon retreat, the Oversight Committee has begun brainstorming new names for the program due to ongoing confusion between Synod Parish Deacons and ELCA Deacons. While no decisions have been made, we want your input as we seek a clearer, more accurate way to identify this vital ministry.
Please know that no changes will be made to the important work Synod Parish Deacons do in their congregations. This is simply about naming, not function. We are exploring the possibility of making the name change for those new and just coming into the program. We ask that you honor this thoughtful process and offer your ideas and feedback in a spirit of positivity and shared purpose.
