Dear St. Paul's family,
This morning, Canon Martin Green announced that he has been called to an exciting new position as Canon Musician, or Director of Music, at the Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, New York. It is a beautiful cathedral with a great dean and a very similar choral program to ours.
The increasing economic challenges of living in San Diego that so many of us face have made it unrealistic for Martin’s family to remain here, and he is fortunate to have found this opportunity for professional advancement.
Martin’s last Sunday at St. Paul’s will be December 28, and we will have a celebration of his ministry on that day. Martin has been a part of St. Paul’s since he was a small boy in the choir, and he has been on staff for the best part of 35 years, so this is a big change for him, his family, and for our parish community, which has nurtured and supported him throughout the years. Martin has developed our music ministry to extraordinary levels of excellence, and generations of young choristers and organists have benefited from his teaching. He is a remarkable musician, and we will miss him very much. However, we rejoice that he has this wonderful new opportunity, and we will send him off to his next professional position with great pride in his accomplishments here.
Watch for more soon about how we will celebrate Martin’s ministry among us.
Your sister in Christ,
Penny
