A New Chapter in Whole-Person Care

A new initiative is taking shape across Georgia, one that brings together clinical providers and community services in a first-of-its-kind effort to improve coordination, outcomes, and support. In partnership with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, GaHIN is launching an integrated approach to bridge data, services, and care. Early conversations and onboarding are now underway, with more details and milestones to follow. Change is coming and it’s rooted in connection.

No Other State HIE is Doing This. Not One.

That’s why GaHIN is connecting LifeSouth Community Blood Banks, the nonprofit blood bank serving most Georgia hospitals, directly to our network.

This is more than a technical lift. It’s a public health milestone.

For the first time, red blood cell (RBC) antibody data from a blood bank will flow into our exchange. This helps prevent dangerous transfusion errors and gives hematologists across Georgia life-saving insight when and where it matters most.

Care delays don’t just cost time. They cost lives. And we are moving forward.

Automation in Action: Housing and Resource Rosters Now Powered by API

Last week, GaHIN quietly achieved an exciting internal milestone: our new RESTful API for the Housing Client Roster and Housing Resource Directory went live in production after hours on Thursday, June 26.

While the primary goal of this project remains in progress, this update marks a major behind-the-scenes advancement—one that eliminates manual processes on both sides and streamlines how critical housing and resource data are shared.

It’s worth noting that although these rosters have been available to users since October of last year, this API deployment represents a meaningful shift toward greater automation and efficiency. It’s not new data, but it’s a new way of delivering it—and that makes a difference.

More seamless data. Less manual work. A better experience for everyone involved.
