A Record-Breaking Month for Citizenship!

Daniel

We are thrilled to share a record eight Literacy Network students passed their citizenship interviews and became U.S. citizens this January! This is the highest number ever for January in the citizenship program's history.

All new citizens (including Daniel, pictured) participated in our citizenship classes and also worked one-on-one with a personal tutor. With their citizenship, they are excited to enhance their work opportunities, vote and become more involved in civic life, and feel more secure in their country of residence.

One new citizen, Isabel, shared her excitement: "When I came to Literacy Network, I couldn't read, I couldn't write, and now I'm a citizen!"

Congratulations to Daniel, Isabel, and all our new citizens!

Welcome, Spring Semester

Staff and student volunteers at registration

Literacy Network's spring semester began January 21 and is off to a busy start! This semester, we are offering an expanded roster of more than 50 free-to-attend classes, including a new conversation class and two new classes in the community, as well as additional high school equivalency instruction thanks to our merger with Omega School.

Student volunteers, along with staff, welcomed 122 new students during our registration week (pictured above). They joined hundreds of students returning from the past semesters. Here's to a great semester! We can't wait to see all that students accomplish in the coming months.
