Job Posting - The Early Childhood Center of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School is in need of an individual to provide after school care for children ages 3 and 4. The hours of employment are: 2:30 p.m. through 5:00 p.m. The position is Monday through Friday with school holiday's and workshops off. The position will begin on Tuesday, September 3rd and will end on May 30th. Compensation is an hourly basis. Please contact Doug Duval, Administrator for further information. 847.438.7709 or duval@stmatts.net
IS YOUR CHILD IN COLLEGE - The Women’s Guild is starting a service project involving our college students. The Guild will be sending cards throughout the year & also a care package to let them know we are thinking about them. If you would like your son or daughter to be remembered, you may contact the church office with their name & address. Any questions, ple ase contact Gail Cooper.     
HELPING HANDS MINISTRY of St. Matthew Lutheran Church & School is intended to provide critical emergency financial support. Please contact one of the Pastors if such support is needed. Contributions to this ministry are also welcome. 
MILITARY OUTREACH USA, Please consider helping the Board of Evangelism & Parish Services fill the needs for Veterans Exiting Homelessness. This will run thru November 11.

BIBLE STUDY OPPORTUNITIES
Joy:Fully Lutheran - In a world so joyless as this one, we have the message of Christ that gives grace and peace, enlightening hearts and enlivening souls.
Sundays mornings beginning September 8 at 9:20 a.m. in the north end of Krueger Hall located in the Lower Level, below the Main Sanctuary. 

   THE ADULT DISCIPLESHIP CLASS
will be offered for eleven (11) weeks beginning Sunday mornings during the Christian Education Hour (9:20-10:20am)  September 8 to November 17 in the Upper Level Conference Room. This is an informational class for those desiring to study the teachings of the Lutheran Church. The study is designed for those seeking membership in our congregation, and is strongly encouraged as a review for all current members.

SUNDAY SCHOOL   
The 2019-2020 Sunday School class will begin on Sunday, September 8 at 9:20am. We meet in the lower level of the school building.

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE STUDY
will meet on the 2nd & 3rd Sunday’s of the month from 9:20-10:20am in the Youth Room. Youth Bible Study will kick off with a CAR WASH on September 8th from 9:30-12:30pm. Class will be held on September 15.

THE YOUTH CONFIRMATION MINISTRY will kick off new classes!
Pre-Confirmation Classes (grade 5) will be held beginning Sunday, September 8 at 9:20 a.m. in the Library during the Educational Hour.
The Youth Confirmation Ministry is designed for all students from grade 6 through grade 8. The Youth Confirmation Ministry is currently on a three-year schedule, and all three years will meet on Sunday, September 8 with an open gym at 6:00 p.m., opening devotion in the Historic Chapel at 6:30 p.m. with classes from 6:45 - 7:45 p.m.

LCC Classes will resume on Monday, September 9, 2019 at 9:30am. The 9:30 class will be held at St. Matthew.
Please Note: the 7:00 class will now be held at Prince of Peace in Palatine. Class topic schedule is on the bulletin board in Luther Hall.  

MOM & TOTS CLASS resumes on September 22 nd from 9:20-10:20 in the Extended Care Room. (upper level of the school) This class is offered to infants aged 1 & 2 and their parents on the 1st and 4th Sunday of every month.

TUESDAY EVENING LADIES’ BIBLE STUDY - will begin September 10 and the new study will be Balance- Christ Filled Living by Kay Meyer. All ladies of the church, school, and community are invited to join us at 7:00 each Tuesday in Luther Hall. THURSDAY MORNING LADIES’ BIBLE STUDY - has resumed! We meet each Thursday at 8:30am in Luther Hall. Current study: Where Love Abides by Donna Pyle. MEN'S SATURDAY BIBLE STUDY
will resume on September 7 at 9:00am. with a prayer breakfast and overview of the Book of Proverbs, chapters 1-21.

SADDLEBROOK BIBLE STUDY 
resumes on Thursday September 5 at 10:00am.

On the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord, May 30, 2019, St. Matthew was privileged to dedicate the new Rodgers Infinity 361 Organ to the glory of God and for the edification of all who worship and praise the Lord God in our Sanctuary. Other future planned dedicatory events include:

ST. MATTHEW MINISTRY NEWS
CHRISTIAN OUTREACH OF LUTHERANS (COOL) -  A food pantry for some of the neediest families in Lake County. Please bring a can of food/box of cereal with you when you worship and place them in Luther Hall. Thanks for helping those in need. August food item: Pasta and Rice.
SHARING THE JOY Are you or somebody you know in need of meals? Sharing the Joy ministry of St. Matthew would like to help. Please contact the church office to set up meal deliveries.
UPCOMING TRIP
2020 EUROPEAN TRIP & OBERAMMERGAU is an 11 Day Classic Classic European Tour (September 20-30, 2020) which will include Budapest, Bratislava, Prague, Nurnberg, Rothenburg, Heidleberg, a Rhine River Cruise, the Neuschwanstein Castle and culminating in Oberammergau for the 2020 production of the Passion Play.
