The Perry Bites & Beats Festival takes over Historic Downtown Perry on September 12, 2026 from 12 PM - 8PM!
The festival will showcase a full day of live music performances across multiple genres, a diverse lineup of food trucks and vendors, and a festive, high-energy atmosphere that invites residents and visitors alike to celebrate community, culture, and creativity!
The festival will feature a main stage with regional and local music acts, a curated food truck court offering flavors from around Middle GA, a beverage garden, family-friendly activities, and artisan vendor booths.

Councilmember James Moody received the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute’s Certificate of Achievement during the Georgia Municipal Association’s (GMA) Annual Convention in Savannah on June 29.
“This accomplishment reflects a strong commitment to excellence in public service,” said GMA CEO and Executive Director Larry Hanson. “Through continued investment in professional development, Councilmember James Moody demonstrates leadership that benefits not only the residents of Perry, but also advances the strength and effectiveness of local governments throughout Georgia. This achievement sets a meaningful example for city officials across our state.”

Council Member Reverend Willie King of the City of Perry has been recognized by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) and the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute as a newly inducted member of the 400 Club during GMA's 2026 Annual Convention.
"These city officials have completed 400 or more hours of training through the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute, surpassing not just expectations, but every certificate level offered," said UGA's Carl Vinson Institute of Government Director Rob Gordon. "This level of achievement is a testament to their steadfast commitment to advancing both themselves as city leaders and the communities they serve."

Council Member Dan Peterson received the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute Certificate of Recognition at the Georgia Municipal Association's (GMA) Annual Convention on June 28.
The Certificate of Recognition requires 42 hours of training, including at least 18 hours from the required list and the Newly Elected Officials Institute and the Robert E. Knox, Jr. Municipal Leadership Institute. The training program consists of more than 80 courses.

All notifications are delivered through one reliable, easy-to-use platform.

Perry Shred Day will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Heritage Oaks Park from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The City of Perry Stormwater Management Division is working with Shred-It, a certified and licensed document destruction company. They will be on site to accept up to 4 standard size boxes of paper/document items per vehicle.
Heritage Oaks Park is located at 2021 Sam Nunn Boulevard in Perry.

Sgt. Jason Seaman Selected as Officer of the Year
Congratulations to Perry Police Sergeant Jason Seaman on being named the 2026 Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police Officer of the Year in the Agencies 51–100 Officers category.
Selected through a statewide nomination and review process led by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, this prestigious award recognizes Sergeant Seaman's exceptional leadership, integrity, professionalism, and commitment to serving the Perry community. He will be honored during the Association's Fall Training Conference in Savannah on September 21.
We are proud to celebrate Sergeant Seaman on this well-deserved recognition and thank him for his outstanding service to our community!

June 2026 Perry Fire & Emergency Services Stats
The City of Perry Fire & Emergency Services Department received a total of 326 calls during the month of June in 2026.
The Perry Fire Department is a 2-station department that contains a staff of firefighters providing fire protection, emergency medical services, technical rescue operations, fire safety education, fire cause investigation, and fire code inspections to a population of over 26,000 across 27.9 square miles.

The University of Georgia Houston County Extension Office will offer a series of four gardening classes on Tuesdays in September, giving residents the opportunity to learn practical, research-based gardening techniques for just $15 per class.
Topics include fall vegetable gardening, hand tool care, tree planting, and growing and preserving herbs. Classes will be held at Hafley Park and the Houston County Extension Office Pavilion.
