Dear Suzanne,

The times, they are a-changin’… and how!

Twenty years ago I sent out my first e-note announcing the launch of Oasis in the Overwhelm. Little did I imagine then the impact that Oasis would have.

I feel as if I’ve been carried aloft on a magic Oasis carpet. The carpet has brought me to far-away countries and connected me with thousands of people who now use the simple, powerful Oasis Strategies to bring more clarity, calm and happiness to their lives. You are one of these people. I am grateful that you came on this journey with me.

And the ride is not over!

Oasis is stepping into an exciting new chapter. It’s time for me to pass the torch to the next generation—a decision I make with both joy and confidence. I’m thrilled to welcome the infusion of fresh ideas and energy, knowing a new leader has the vision and dedication to take Oasis even further while staying true to its core strategies.

During my remarkable odyssey, I’ve met extraordinary people whose passion has shaped and strengthened the Oasis Program. One such person came to my New Haven office in 2012—a poised young woman I assumed might be out of place in our training. In my mind, I thought, upscale blonde socialite. Yet, I decided to let her in, curious to see how Oasis might resonate with her. To my surprise, her involvement blossomed into something extraordinary, a testament to how Oasis draws out unexpected strengths and defies assumptions. This spirit of transformation is alive and well in the hands of our new leader, and I have full faith she will carry it forward with wisdom and passion.

The woman you see with me in the photo is Suzanne Dudley-Schon, still a lovely blonde. She is an excellent coach, speaker, and author who happens to be bilingual in Spanish and English. Suzanne was raised in Latino cultures as her mother was from the Dominican Republic. Suzanne aced the Oasis Training, became an Oasis Trainer herself and integrated it into the various facets of her career and life. Suzanne is Oasis.

From Suzanne:

When Millie asked me, 'Why Oasis?' and 'What is your vision?', my response was simple: Oasis aligns perfectly with my mission to reduce suffering. My goal is to provide tools and spark insights that foster inner peace, resilience, and confidence. Oasis held immense value twenty years ago, and it’s even more essential today as the world accelerates and disruption becomes our norm. I believe Oasis can touch countless lives, and it’s exciting to know that Millie’s life’s work will continue. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to help bring this vision to life.

Many in our world today are suffering warfare, hunger, deprivation. Many of us in “safe” areas are anxious, sad, depressed. In these days of family, neighborhood and cosmic change, it is ever more important that each of us be Oasis in our daily lives.

How can we be Oasis?  When I am angry, remind myself to breathe enough to calm myself so I can know what the anger is about. Where there is strife – in the supermarket line, on the highway, at my kitchen table, wherever – I can be peace. When there is confusion, I can cut through clutter in my mind and in my daily life as best possible. Do it poco a poco, calmly.

That will make me and our planet deeply happier and healthier.

But, as I say on the back of the Oasis CD, “Calm does not mean comatose.” It means we are poised and clear enough to take correct action.

If you live in the United States, please vote this coming Tuesday if you have not already. And prep yourself to be Oasis in the days after Tuesday, whatever they may bring.

I sign off this e-note with abundant gratitude and hope. Know that I will continue to present Oasis in retreats, workshops and guest appearances in O Trainings as with great trust I turn over the “leadership reins” of Oasis to Suzanne. She will be with you as we continue to ripple Oasis throughout our various parts of the world.

More to come. Stay tuned!
