Regulation of Insurance Contracts
By Jason Watt, CD, CLU

Some of you may have picked up on this notice from the law firm Norton Rose Fulbright back in November of 2019:  Click here . While I haven’t seen the source document, it refers to correspondence by the BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) concerning charitable donations of life insurance and trafficking provisions in the Insurance Act.

Dave Thompson Retires
For those of you who have not had the opportunity to meet with Dave Thompson, it's important to know three things: he is a person of the highest moral calibre, one of the last travelling insurance agents, and the 9 th person to obtain his CFP® in Alberta.
Dave has retired as of January 2, 2020. We want to wish him all the best. Dave, your voice will be missed in this industry.

This term's draw winners are Olu, Darren & Audrey! Great Job!!
Our next set of live classes will start March 2020, so be sure to register so that you can write your exam by Oct 2020.

What's New?
Penny's Corner
Bob & I have been going to Phoenix every year since 2017. We like it there so much that it’s one of the set events on our calendar, and we plan all of our February events around it.
We have a core group of attendees who come year after year and we always look forward to meeting new people.
We hope to see you there!

"My experience with the BCC has never let me down. Always professional and informative. The Phoenix 2 day session is a great way to get away, enjoy time with the family and/or business associates and warm up. LOL This year will be my 4th year and I really appreciate getting all of my CE credits in 2 days in Phoenix!!"

LLQP Comments
Bob Watt, EPC

Here we are embarking on a new year and a new decade. Of course whether we are actually in a new decade depends on whether you follow the Farmer’s Almanac theory that the new decade actually does not start until 2021. This might be a great time to talk about those LLQP students who completed certification prior to the end of 2019.
