New Beginning.jpg

Dear Members, Partners, and Followers,

As we begin the new year, the National Board of Directors and I would like to start by thanking our volunteer leaders, members, partners, and credential holders for your continued support of this organization. We are looking forward to a bright 2024!

I'd like to take a moment to share a bit about the work we did in 2023. Our staff dedicated themselves to strengthening our services for certification and membership by improving our processes and communication. We created national committees to provide additional support and opportunities for members. We are sending credential holders who renew certificates by mail again. The Strategic Development Committee created the AFE Industry Partner program so entities with multiple facilities and management professionals can receive group benefits on instruction and credentials. Additionally, we upgraded our Associate members to AFE Business Partners and are providing more marketing and advertising opportunities. The Council of Representatives worked to offer more resources for chapter operators, while the House of Delegates welcomed two new chapters this year. Everyone has been hard at work for AFE. With that said, there is still much work to do on our website, communications, and services. We ask that everyone be patient with us as we continue to make progress on these items.

I truly couldn't be more excited for this year to start. As the Executive Director, I am committed to approaching each day with integrity and reverence for my position. I plan to continue bringing new energy and life into this renowned organization by applying a fresh perspective and creative thinking. Our staff will work closely with chapter and regional leadership to bring back in-person events and enhance the membership experience nationally. We are already working hard on activating new volunteers and drawing out diverse viewpoints to include all facility categories to revitalize our membership benefits. Furthermore, this year we are launching a new national AFE service for training and certification. This new service will focus on the future generation of managers in facilities and engineering.

I encourage all members and partners to look at this year as a growth opportunity and actively participate. Consider trying a new volunteer position, sharing your ideas that may inspire and generate new movements, and being a part of the change. Together, with our esteemed facility managers and engineers, we will lead AFE to greater heights and reestablish its position as a leading force in our industry.

Moving forward, communication with our audience will be at the core of all that we do. Keep a close eye on your inbox for national, regional, and chapter email communications.

Now is the time to make a difference for the future of AFE!

Sincerely,

Meri-Elizabeth Schulze, MSIMC
