Ms. Franklin, a wheelchair user, was referred to Habitat Forsyth’s Repair Program through our partnership with Senior Services. Prior to this collaboration, she had reached out to the City’s Community Assistance Program (CAPS) seeking critical home repairs but was placed on a waitlist with no projected timeline for assistance.
Due to her mobility limitations, Ms. Franklin relies on in-home support services to assist with daily activities, including bathing. Her home was equipped only with a traditional bathtub, creating a significant safety and accessibility barrier. Through our partnership with Senior Services, Habitat Forsyth was able to complete a full bathroom accessibility upgrade. This included the installation of a fully renovated walk-in shower, as well as relocating the water access and shower control handle to a position that better accommodates her wheelchair use and reach.
