A New Year and a New School in Hyderabad:

Mallampet Primary School

The Mallampet Primary School is in dire need of renovation. When our team in India proposed it, we were quick to adopt it as our 19th school in Hyderabad. The Carnevali Foundation has an MOU in place with the local education office to fully renovate the existing school campus.

Plans are underway to increase the number of classrooms and provide a healthy, safe and secure space for the 360 students who currently attend the school.

Warm Greetings

During Jackie's last trip to India in November 2025, she was warmly greeted by the Headmaster and Teachers of the Mallampet School, who were grateful and very excited in anticipation of the much needed new facility.

Showcasing Schoolwork

It is customary in India to stand as a sign of respect when a visitor enters the classroom. As shown above, the children welcomed Jackie warmly. Despite challenging learning conditions, the primary school students were eager to demonstrate their reading and writing skills.

Building Replacement

This existing school building must be completely replaced. It is heavily affected by mold, both inside and outside. Mold poses serious health risks and can cause severe illness, particularly in children. Even with the windows open, the odor inside the classrooms is difficult to tolerate.

Mold Remediation

As shown in this “before” photo, mold is caused by cracks in the roof and overhanging tree limbs.

When it rains, the absence of a runoff system allows water to penetrate through these cracks. As part of the new construction, the trees will be trimmed back and proper drainage pipes will be installed.

Bathroom Replacements

The existing school has separate toilet blocks for girls and boys, both of which are in very poor condition.

Like the classroom buildings, they are affected by mold and lack adequate air circulation.

Installation of an RO System

The existing hand washing and drinking station is not connected to a potable water source. A reverse osmosis system will be installed to provide teachers and students with access to clean, safe drinking water.

In addition, an Ayah and a Watchman will be hired to help keep the campus clean, free of garbage, and properly maintained.

School's New Footprint

Construction of the new Mallampet School began at the end of 2025 and is progressing quickly!

Workers are outlining where the renovated buildings will be located. The campus has been altered to accommodate an additional road from the busy street.

New Features for Mallampet

As with our other adopted schools in India, the renovated Mallampet School will include updated learning spaces and toilet facilities, as well as a fully equipped library with books and a librarian, a kitchen, and a boundary wall.
