Greetings!
Holden joins so much of the country in the experience of extreme cold recently. Three feet of fresh powder have been accompanied by swirling winds and now, sub-zero temperatures. There's nothing for it then but to stoke the boilers and get cozy at a loom bench, in a craft circle or around a puzzle or game table.
The cold weather enthusiasts are still shushing along the freshly groomed Nordic ski trails and tromping to 10 Mile Falls on snow shoes. J-Term students study in the Fireside room and get comfortable on the library couches. There is something for all in this snow globe of a Village.
We also know our warmth depends on community care and the hands of many who wake early and sleep late to make sure buildings have heat and the pipes don't break. Blessings to all those who show such care in their communities across the country by staffing warming shelters, providing hot meals, and checking in on neighbors.
And blessings to you. May you find warmth and joy in these early days of the New Year.
Faithfully,
Stacy Kitahata, Mark Bach, and Kathie Bach
