The latest news from Bardejov and the BJPC is here!
As the new Jewish year begins, we are thrilled to share with you our exciting plans for the coming months, while also reflecting on our many achievements from the past year.
Beith Hamidrash Building is being Restored!
The Beith Hamidrash restoration project is progressing rapidly. The interior was repaired and reinforced and the exterior walls—as you can see in the image—are being reinstated. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, after which we will implement the plans for the interior of the building: A museum of Jewish Heritage.
We hope that with your help we can complete the first phase of the museum and open it to the public by the summer of 2024. Please do not hesitate to contact us with questions and ideas.
New Film about the Typhoid Rescue Plan in Bardejov during WWII
The film, telling the notable story of Refuel Lowy and the Typhoid Rescue Plan (Memorial Book of Jewish Bardejov, page 76 and 77), is the initiative of Mr. Fish. The filming, which took place in both Israel and Bardejov, has been completed and the movie is currently in post-production stage. We will send more information as we get closer to its premier. Bardejov: A Heritage Tour Destination
Bardejov continues to be an attraction for Heritage Tours, given its rich Jewish heritage, the restoration process of the Jewish Suburbia, and the Bardejov Holocaust Memorial. Among the many groups and private people who come to visit Bardejov, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of graduate students from Yeshiva University in New York. They participated in a heritage tour across Europe and came to Bardejov to attend our event.
Students of Yeshiva University's Emil A. and Jenny Fish Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies visiting Bardejov, July 5th, 2023
June 2024 will mark 10 years since the inauguration of Bardejov's Holocaust Memorial
It is hard to believe that almost 10 years have passed since the emotional inauguration of the Bardejov Holocaust Memorial in June 2014. So many people have visited the Memorial, and we’ve had numerous local school activities, public events, and commemorations.

We plan to mark the 10-year anniversary with a special event. We anticipate that it will also include the opening of Bardejov’s Jewish Heritage Museum in Beith Hamidrash.

We hope to see you in Bardejov in 2024!
