A new year on campus:

Welcome to the 2026-27 school year! As I begin my first academic year as dean, I’m thrilled to welcome back our returning students and those joining the CBS community for the first time.

This is an extraordinary time to study biology. New discoveries are transforming how we understand life and address challenges in human health, agriculture and the environment. At CBS, you have the opportunity to learn from faculty at the forefront of these discoveries while exploring where your own interests might take you.

I encourage you to make the most of your time here—get to know your professors and classmates, explore research and other opportunities beyond the classroom, and take advantage of the many resources available to support you.

I look forward to seeing you around campus, and I wish you a wonderful year ahead.

Frédéric Chédin

Dean, College of Biological Sciences

What to pay attention to:

// Fall Quarter 2026 Academic Advising

The Biology Academic Success Center (BASC) continues to offer in-person and virtual appointments, twice weekly express advising sessions, and drop-in peer meetings. Meet with an advisor to understand your degree requirements, plan your next quarter, and learn more about campus resources and opportunities.

// uAchieve Degree Audit is Now Live

uAchieve Degree Audit is designed to help undergraduate students track their degree progress, see incomplete requirements, and explore how completed courses could apply to other majors. uAchieve replaces MyDegree as the primary online tool for tracking degree requirements.

// BioLaunch Mentor Collective

There's still time to sign up to be a mentor or to be a mentee with BioLaunch Mentor Collective. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with your community and expand your knowledge of campus resources and events. Top mentors will have the chance to earn prizes, including gift cards, CBS swag, and graduation cords.
