Stay in the Game! Staff Recognition
Each Browns home game features a unique theme that highlights a special cause or community initiative with a goal of raising awareness and celebrating our local communities. This December, the spotlight was on the Stay in the Game! Attendance Network, recognizing our students and educators who promote strong attendance. Over 50 students and 45 staff members from SEL Schools were nominated for this event. On Sunday, December 7, 10 staff members and one student were recognized as they watched the Cleveland Browns take on the Tennessee Titans.
Way to represent SEL Schools with pride, Arcs!

Strategic Planning - Parent Listening Session
The district is at a pivotal moment as we prepare for the development of a new Strategic Plan for the district. It covers a wide variety of topics that are important to our schools and community – including academics, finances, programming, facilities, technology, culture, and communications.
We want to make sure we are hearing from our main stakeholders, our parents. Your thoughts and opinions are an important part of this process and key to ensuring that we are heading in the right direction.
That is why we are inviting you to attend our upcoming parent listening session on Wednesday, January 28, at 6 p.m. at the Brush Cafeteria. The listening sessions will be facilitated by independent moderators. Everything you say will be kept confidential and will only be used in the context of a summary report. Your name will not be used in the report.
Please RSVP using this Google form.

SEL Night at CSU Basketball
SEL Schools is excited to partner with Cleveland State University to host two special SEL Nights featuring both men’s and women’s basketball this winter. In addition to providing free tickets for families, CSU will celebrate this partnership with student tours, in-game recognition, and other special experiences.
The first SEL Night will take place on Saturday, January 17, at 2 p.m., when the CSU Men’s Basketball team faces Youngstown State at the Wolstein Center. The district has 50 free tickets available for this game, which will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Families can request free tickets by completing this form. Those who do not receive free tickets will be provided information on how to purchase discounted tickets.
Also on January 17, students in grades K–12 can participate in a Cheer & Dance Clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to perform at the game later that day. Additional details and registration information are available through CSU’s website.
Families are also encouraged to save the date for the second SEL Night on Saturday, February 7, at 2 p.m., when the CSU Women’s Basketball team takes on the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons. More information, including how to request free tickets, will be shared in January.

Share What You Wear Clothing Drive
SELTA is sponsoring their annual Share What You Wear clothing drive now through January 24. If you find yourself cleaning out closets over winter break, consider bringing items to one of the donation bins located in the front office at each of the school buildings. While school buildings will be closed over break, items can be donated when school resumes on or after January 5.
New and gently used winter gear (jackets, gloves, scarves, boots, etc.); baby, toddler, and kids clothing; and tween and teen clothing are the most needed items.
Share What You Wear is a project of National Council of Jewish Women/Cleveland that creates personally-shopped, gender- and size-specific clothing and toiletry bags for distribution to children in need or in crisis locally. For more information about the project, visit ncjwcleveland.org.

PTA Founders Day Celebration - Save the Date!
Mark your calendars! The annual PTA Founders Day celebration will take place on February 17 at 6 p.m. at the Brush Performing Arts Center (PAC). This special evening is a long-standing PTA tradition and a meaningful opportunity for our school community to come together.
So, what is Founders Day? Founders Day honors the establishment of the PTA and its ongoing mission to support children, families, and schools. Each year, we celebrate by recognizing outstanding staff members and community volunteers who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to our students. It’s a night to reflect on the impact these individuals have made and to publicly thank them for their commitment, care, and service.
The ceremony is open to everyone, and we encourage families, staff, and community members to attend. Following the program, please join us for a reception in the Brush Media Center, where guests can connect, celebrate, and enjoy light refreshments.
We hope you’ll join us for this special evening as we honor those who help make our schools such a wonderful place for our children to learn and grow.
