Arcs in Action

Sunview Arcs Engineer and Problem Solve

Sunview students working with intervention specialist Tammy Despoy enjoyed on a fun, hands-on project that stretched their critical thinking, collaborative, and problem-solving skills!

They began by reading the book How to Catch a Snowman, then took on the challenge of building traps to catch their own snowman!

Students brainstormed ideas, engineered solutions, problem-solved issues, and then explained how their traps could capture a sneaky snowman!

Hands-on learning is a great way to connect students to big ideas and help them learn to stay calm if they need to shift gears.

Way to go, Arcs!

Stay in the Know

Take the Safe Routes to School Survey!

Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is a program from the U.S. Department of Transportation. It supports making walking and biking to school safer for students. South Euclid–Lyndhurst Schools are doing a study as part of this program to help our students walk and bike to school more safely and easily.

The District is asking for ideas from students, parents, and the community through this stakeholder survey. This feedback will help make the best changes possible. When students can walk or bike safely, it helps their bodies and minds stay healthy.

The plan follows the “Six E’s” of SRTS:

  • Engineering
  • Education
  • Encouragement
  • Enforcement
  • Evaluation, and
  • Equity.

These can include better sidewalks and crossings, teaching safety skills, encouraging walking and biking, using tools like crossing guards, and making sure everyone’s travel and safety needs are met. The results of your input and the data collection will result in a School Travel Plan that will be used to seek out funding sources for implementation.

Please take part and share your thoughts through this 5-10 minute survey. The survey will be available until February 16 and the School Travel Plan should be finished by early summer.

Audition Information for the All-District Spring Musical

This year’s All-District Spring Musical will be The Lion King Jr.!

This beloved musical is filled with unforgettable music, vibrant characters, and powerful themes of friendship and leadership. The Lion King Jr. is a joyful and meaningful experience for performers and audiences alike.

Our spring musical is a wonderful opportunity for students to grow as performers, collaborators, and leaders—both onstage and behind the scenes. This opportunity is available for any student in Grades 3-12 currently enrolled in the SEL Schools.

Audition material and the audition form can be found on the spring musical website.

We can’t wait to bring the Pridelands to life and share this exciting journey with our school community!

Kindergarten Eligibility Update

The State of Ohio has passed new legislation changing the age requirement for kindergarten eligibility. As a result:

  • Students must be five years old on or before the first day of instruction to be eligible for kindergarten under Ohio law.
  • All students must be five on or before August 24, 2026, to be eligible for kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year at SEL Schools.

This is a change from the district’s previous kindergarten cutoff date of September 30.

The new eligibility requirements take effect for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
