A No Name!
Not Really!
On a shopping excursion with my niece and her Father, my niece was determined to get the coat she wanted. Her primary requisite was that it carried the Baby Phat name because everyone else had the coat. She found the coat that she wanted and kept trying to ditch me and ease to the register to have her Dad purchase it.
Once I saw the coat I realized I had seen the same coat for less than half the price. The only difference was that it didn't carry the Baby Phat name. It was the exact same design. Needless to say it became a battle of the wills and my authority prevailed. She was so mad at me because she felt that I had prevented her from wearing a coat with Baby Phat's name on it like everyone else. She was caught up in a name.
This is the interesting part. After my niece got the coat she had someone airbrush Mickey Mouse, her favorite character, on the back with her nickname "Shorty". When she wore the coat to school everyone kept asking her where did she get it and they wanted one too. Well, needless to say this "no name" coat became an instant hit. She was so glad she bought that coat and not the other one. She wore the coat until I had to make her stop because it wasn't fit to wear anywhere.
Many of us are just like my niece. We are so consumed with a "name" that we miss powerful women and men of God. You may not know their name or even heard of them, but they may be the very one who has the message you have been seeking.
You see, oftentimes people flock to events where there are known names on the program. Many times you can barely get into these places. Interestingly enough at some point, these people were "no names". People didn't know who they were and people didn't flock to see them. More than likely if you asked those people who early on had the wisdom to go and hear these "no name" people, they recall messages that were so profound it transformed their lives forever.
It is no different with an event. There are events hosted by perceived "no name" organizations that are totally phenomenal and life transforming. When Bishop T.D. Jakes started "Woman Thou Art Loosed," it was a "no name" event. In essence, according to Bishop Jakes, it was a Sunday School class with about 35 women. Now look at it!
Don't get so caught up in name recognition, that you lose sight that God has something great for you. Just because you don't know the name of the person or the event does not negate that something wonderful and life transforming await you.
