The Secrets to Success When Turning Pro!

If you have spent any time on the Texas Facebook Page or on the website, you have likely heard something about the beloved Texas School Wranglers.

What is a Wrangler? Wranglers are volunteers who do all of the heavy lifting making sure classes run smoothly.

I am pleased to introduce to you the Wranglers for my class, Elizabeth Smith and Guy T Phillips. These two are your minions of fun and will make sure you participate in everything Texas School.
Elizabeth Smith - Welcome everyone! I am looking forward to meeting all of you.

I guess you could say I am a Kozak groupie! I have been in many of his classes, including workshops in Colorado, New Mexico and Monument Valley. I have Wrangled for Steve several years as well.

My goal is to ensure you are getting everything you need out of this class and making sure you are able to process the knowledge you will be gaining.

It is not always easy, so if you feel you need a little extra help or start feeling a little overwhelmed, I will do everything I can to help put you on the right track and to encourage you every step along the way.

Be ready to grow and have fun!
Guy T Phillips - A little about me ... I'm a native Texan (yes, there are a few here and there) and Highland Village resident since 2002. My much-better-half and I will celebrate 38 years in 2022, and we are very fortunate to have a super-daughter, who received her first degree from Texas A&M in 2014 and most recently a Masters in 2018. I consider myself to be very fortunate to have Janet and Laura in my life.

I don't drink, don't smoke, and don't gamble. Kinda boring, but I'd like to stick around as long as I can. In the meantime, my vices would be my addictions to Formula 1 racing and UNC basketball.

The last few years as a Headshot photographer have led to recognition as a 7-time winner of Best of Flower Mound and Denton County.
My Wranglers are the Best!
Both of these folks are such dear friends and I have depended on them over and over and they always impress! You will do well to get to know them. I know you will come to love them as I do.
Speaking of "I do"
Allow me to introduce my wife, Jacqueline.

You will, no doubt, meet her during our time together. Mostly, she will be working in the Texas School office, but she often finds time to drop by my class to say hi.

She loves photography, gardening and cooking. Generally, she photographs her cooking and her garden and shares it all on her Instagram account.

Find her on Instagram @jacquelinedkozak
My next email is VERY IMPORTANT! I am going to be discussing some options to help make your journey into the world of professional photography easier than ever.

Please be looking for this email in the next day or two!
Assignment #4: Don't Fall Behind

If you have not started your homework studies, please get on it because you will get behind and get overwhelmed.

Lesson 4 is ready for you: Lesson 4: Controlling Motion | Pass the CPP
In case you missed it, here are the links to previous lessons:

Remember, take your time and really learn the material.

Also remember:

  • Next time you are out and about, pick up a pack of 3x5 notecards.
  • Gather about 4 – 5 of your all-time, favorite images that YOU have taken. These do not have to be your best work, nor do they have to be all that recent – I just want you to find the images the mean the most to you. Select your two most very favorite among them and have a 8x10's printed that you can bring to class. They can be of a client, a friend or a family member – but it is going to be most helpful if these are images of a person or people and not a landscape or scenic image.

I will be sending you a complete list of things to bring a little bit closer to class.
That’s it for now!
