It's a party!

We’re having a party and Southside Johnny is singing! This weekend’s first reading from Isaiah and the Gospel remind us that Heaven awaits us as a party, not a chore, and everybody has to prepare for the party if they don’t want to miss out on the fun. Isaiah describes our future as the ultimate party where sadness and tears are banished. There is only room for good food and celebration on this holy mountain. In today’s Gospel, the wedding feast reminds us of Heaven. If the Gospel parable and Isaiah speak to us of Heaven, it’s also a reminder that God is merciful and good, but in the end, we have to do our part, even a little - like putting on the proper garment - if we want to be at this eternal party. That’s not asking much at all! In addition, God is there to help us get ready. We hear in our second reading from Saint Paul’s letter to the Philippians, “I can do all things in him who strengthens me.” He can help us get our garment ready! If we give our Lord something to work with, He will get us to the party on time and fully dressed. This is a party we don’t want to miss. Plus, this is a party where we don’t have to worry about following restrictions from the CDC! God bless and stay safe!
