Hi everybody! Thank you very much for all your prayers, time and support with our 29th Parish Homecoming Festival. We were blessed with great weather. Thank you, Saint Medard! Ever since I heard about Saint Medard, I have been asking him to pray for us. Again, thank you Greg & Annie Miller for telling me about the saint. His feast day was yesterday, June 8th. Today is the feast of Saint Ephrem. I attribute the nice weather to Saint Medard’s prayers for us! If you ask me, Wednesday and Thursday were the most miraculous days. We didn’t get too much rain on Wednesday. This allowed the vendors to get a lot set up for the festival. Thursday was amazing, too. Even though it was overcast, no rain!
Congrats to John Kosek. He’s the winner of the 65” Smart TV. James Simmons from Cleveland won the 50/50 Raffle. When I called Jim Sunday night, he thought I was one of his friends trying to pull a prank on him! He called the parish Monday to verify, and he was delighted to find out that he was not being pranked.
We had around 200 folks volunteering at the festival. Incredible! One pastor canceled his parish’s festival because he thought he could not get enough volunteers due to the pandemic. You stepped up to the plate, sacrificed your time, and you wonderfully exercised hospitality. Thank you. It was hot and a lot of folks visited the parish. We were the only event on this side of Cleveland, and they all flocked to our festival! This caused a few challenges, especially on Saturday, but our police were on hand and did their best to defray any situation.
New this year on the menu at the parish food tent was hot hamburg sandwiches! I was able to dust off my McDonald's grilling skills and put them to use on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I had fun! Again, I am really touched by everyone’s involvement. I am especially touched by the effort made by our older folks helping at the festival. The spirit was willing and with that, you put your body to work in the heat. Thank you! You are so generous and kind.
Thank you, Jim & Rosemarie Sisler and the festival chairs for their hard work in such a short amount of time. Amazing job! Speaking of an amazing job, thank you for your response to our in-pew appeal for Heart of a Shepherd last weekend. Right now, we have collected over $120,000 in pledges. Thank you and keep up the good work. Want to make a pledge but you missed the in-pew appeal? No worries! It is never too late! You can drop your pledge card off at the parish office or in the offertory basket next weekend. God bless and stay safe!
