The Apostle to the Apostles
Happy Easter Tuesday! The first eight days of Eastertime is the Easter Octave, from Easter Sunday to the Second Sunday of Easter! This octave is eight solemnities, one after the other. Wowie Kazowie! So I hope you enjoy these awesome Holy Days.
The Gospel of today features our patroness, the Apostle to the Apostles, Saint Mary Magdalene. Like Saint Mary Magdalene, we are called to be apostles to others. The Holy Spirit sends us forth to go and tell others the Gospel, the good news of our own lives. Saint Mary Magdalene had a genuine encounter with the Risen Lord. Then she shared with those around her. This is the heart of the new evangelization: encountering Christ and sharing His love with others. Think of the ways that we encounter our Risen Lord. We encounter Him in the Eucharist, in Holy Scripture, in prayer, in the goodness of others, and in the beauty of creation. May we always take the time to ask God how he is calling us to bear witness to Him. May we encounter our Lord deeply so that we can bring our Risen Lord to others. God bless and stay safe!
