Dear Friend,

I hope this message finds you safe and in good health.

The last few weeks and days have brought tremendous change as we adapt to the reality of COVID-19 in our community and around the world.  What has not changed is how grateful we are for you – our donors, supporters, and friends – for caring about our mission to restore and empower women and girls who have been trafficked and exploited.

Here’s an update on how we are moving forward at New Friends New Life:

Moving Forward with Virtual Counseling

For the safety of our staff and the members we serve, NFNL transitioned to working remotely last week. The most recent orders from Dallas County now require most residents to stay at home through April 3.

Our dedicated program staff is conducting virtual counseling sessions with adult members , helping them stay on track with their counseling goals while addressing any additional trauma incurred as a result of this global crisis.

For our Youth Resource Center , the team has set up virtual hangouts for teen girls to connect with each other and their survivor mentors remotely through the YRC’s private social media accounts. We are committed to finding a way to stay connected to our women and girls, and they are just as committed to staying connected to us.
Moving Forward During Social Distancing

Though we are able to maintain individual counseling services with the help of technology, we are also busy reimagining ways to continue other key services during this new, and hopefully temporary reality. We will keep you updated on how you can help us move forward in the coming days and weeks.

What we have seen through all of this is the connecting power of words. While social distancing requires us to be apart, we can bridge the distance with kind words. Our members love reading from the encouragement box at the NFNL office, filled with notes collected at community events and volunteer drives. They also leave notes for each other! We can share the same encouragement virtually. Feel free to drop a short note of encouragement (20 words or less) for our women and teen girls in the inbox below and we’ll be sure to share with them.
Thank you for taking a #StandForHer,
Kim Robinson
