Musical Musings!
When asked which section my student thought she needed to work on the most, she said, "This one because it has all the sharpies."

A Note from our President!
OMTA Summit County President, Karen Campo, welcomes the 2014 Duet Festival audience at Steinway.

Greetings Fellow Music Teachers!

What a wintery winter we have had! Amazingly, the weather has cooperated with our calendar and we have already had three great events in 2014--the January Social, our February program with Joy Morin and the Duet Festival.  Kathy and Jim Merwin hosted the social in their lovely home in Hudson and it was a wonderful evening of catching up with colleagues and sharing yummy snacks. On February 7th, Joy Morin, of the "Color in My Piano" blog, which is nationally famous, presented countless games and activities that can really enhance our teaching.  Amy Sauriol chaired the Duet Festival (committee: Kathy Savinell and Karen Campo) which was held at the new Steinway Gallery in Hudson on February 8th.  Six teachers presented fourteen teams for an afternoon of fabulous duet playing which included an inspiring Master Class and exquisite duet performance by our guest artists, Chris and Katherine Fisher. Ted Shure took many excellent pictures and posted them on our Facebook page.  The audience was "standing room only" and it was exciting to see a room filled with people so enthusiastic about playing piano!

A special congratulations goes out to Christina Choy who was recognized at the State Conference this fall for her 25th year of membership.  We are very proud of you Christina!

Ted Shure is doing a fantastic job with communication and keeping you updated with important information in our new Constant Contact format.  Please say "thank you" to Ted next time you see him, and also read these updates as they find their way to your inbox.  As you can see, there are many opportunities for you and your students!

We are just in the beginning of the busy festival/recital season.  I will look forward to seeing you at the different events and especially our meetings--March 7 with Gulimina Mahamuti on Chinese Pedagogy, Repertoire Sharing on April 4 and the luncheon
on May 2.

May your teaching be inspired and inspiring!

Karen Campo
