Por favor firme la siguiente petición, dirigida al Presidente Sebastián Piñera y al Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Roberto Ampuero Espinoza, para que ellos intervengan por los dos Chilenos arrestados en Malasia. ¡Fernando y Felipe están viviendo la peor pesadilla de sus vidas!
Please sign the following petition addressed to the President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, and to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Ampuero Espinoza, requesting that they intervene on behalf of two Chilean citizens arrested in Malaysia.
Estos dos jóvenes Chilenos y universitarios han pasado los últimos 7 meses en la prisión Sungai Buloh, Malasia. Lo que se suponía que iba a ser las mejores vacaciones de sus vidas, terminó en la peor pesadilla. Ambos fueron arrestados por el presunto delito de asesinato de un ciudadano Malasio. Si ellos son encontrados culpables del delito se les dará la pena máxima de muerte (en la horca). Fernando y Felipe se encuentran esperando el juicio que ha sido establecido para este 29 de Mayo, 2018.
The young men, university students, have spent the last 7 months in the Sungai Buloh prison in Malaysia. Their dream vacation turned into a horrific nightmare. Both were arrested for the alleged murder of a Malaysian citizen. If found guilty they will be given the death sentence (by hanging). Fernando and Felipe are waiting for their trial date scheduled for May 29, 2018.
De acuerdo a la información entregada al canal de televisión Chileno, Canal 13, Fernando y Felipe dejaron Chile para trabajar como “working holiday” en Nueva Zelanda. En Agosto del 2017, Fernando y Felipe viajaron desde Nueva Zelanda hacia Malasia con la intención de tener las mejores vacaciones de su vida. En la primera noche en Malasia un extraño los siguió hasta el hostal donde tenían su reservación. De repente el extraño hombre comenzó a tratar de agredirlos, lo que genero la discusión de ambas partes y rápidamente el hombre atacó a los Chilenos con un pedazo de vidrio. Los jovenes se defendieron, y lograron detener al hombre e inmovilizarlo. La policía finalmente pudo ser contactada y llego a los 50 minutos del incidente. Fue entonces que la policía declaró que el hombre había fallecido por circunstancias desconocidas.
Based on the information provided to the Chilean television network, Canal 13, Fernando and Felipe left Chile to New Zealand on a "working holiday." On August 2017, Fernando and Felipe traveled from New Zealand to Malaysia ready to enjoy the vacation of a lifetime. On their first night in Malaysia a stranger followed them to the hostel where they had made their reservations. The stranger suddenly attacked the Chileans with a piece of glass. The young men defended themselves and managed to stop the man by tackling him to the ground. The local police arrived at the scene approximately 50 minutes later and declared the attacker dead for unknown reasons.
Los Chilenos fueron arrestados y transferidos al cuartel de policía donde pasaron 2 semanas completas sin ningún tipo de explicación, hasta que un oficial les informó que ambos estaban bajo arresto por asesinato de un ciudadano Malasio. Los Chilenos fueron transferidos a la cárcel Sungai Buloh donde están actualmente.
Both Chileans were arrested and taken to a local jail. Two weeks went by before they were informed that they were under arrest for the murder of a Malaysian citizen. Then they were transferred to the Sungai Buloh prison which is where they are now.
Durante estos meses Felipe y Fernando han tenido que enfrentar las peores pesadillas que se puedan imaginar, perdieron 16 kilos de peso, no pueden comunicarse con otras personas dentro de la cárcel debido a la barrera del lenguaje, y además, por el tipo de delito, la comunicación con el exterior ha sido bloqueada haciendo el panorama aun más dramático.
During these past months Felipe and Fernando have faced the worst possible nightmares, they've lost 35 lbs each, they cannot communicate with people inside the prison due to the language barrier, and due to the nature of the charges they are held incommunicado with no contact with the outside world.
La abogada que defiende a los dos Chilenos ha enviado varias cartas al gobierno de Malasia pidiendo la reducción de la condena, pero todas han sido rechazadas.
The lawyer defending the detained Chileans sent several letters to the Malaysian government apealling for a sentence reduction, but the request has been denied.
El padre de Felipe a expresado: "el juicio se iniciará el próximo 29 de mayo y si la abogada no logra rebajar los cargos a homicidio negligente, mi hijo arriesga pena de muerte".
Felipe's father said: "the trial will begin on May 29th and if the lawyer fails to reduce the charges to involuntary manslaughter, my son could face the death sentence."
A través de esta petición pedimos respetuosamente al gobierno de Chile que haga todas las intervenciones necesarias para la reducción de condena de Felipe y Fernando, y la amnistía si es necesario. Nosotros creemos que estos dos jóvenes buenos se merecen una oportunidad de vivir, así que por favor te pedimos que nos ayudes a traerlos salvo a casa.
Through this petition we respectfully request that the Chilean government make all the necessary arrangements for a sentence reduction for Felipe and Fernando, and a request for amnesty if possible. We believe that these two young men deserve the opportunity to live, thus we ask that you please help us bring them home safely.
