STUDIO UPDATES

So close...but not quite finished.

If you're joining me for the first time, welcome! This is my newest painting in progress from my Beautiful Mundanity series, a collection inspired by the small, everyday moments that make up our lives. But don't let the theme of small moments fool you - this is not a small painting. At 36×48 inches, it's one of the largest works I've created in the series.

Despite my goal of finishing this piece by the end of June, I'm not quite there yet. This has been one of the busiest - but also one of the most exciting - months I've had, with all of the art fairs I've been doing. They've left less time in the studio, but I've truly enjoyed sharing my work and meeting so many wonderful people along the way.

I'm determined to make this my last work-in-progress update for this painting. I'm so close now - just a few more shadows and highlights. I can't wait to share the finished piece with you next month!

In a way, I'm glad you've had the chance to follow this painting through its different stages. It's a reminder of just how much time and care goes into each of these larger works. They truly are a labor of love, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

NEW In The Leftovers Series

Along with the progress on my large painting, I was also able to complete two new pieces for my Leftovers series this month. Like the others in the series, Fracture and Convergence were created entirely from the leftover paint from my larger works - in this case, the bathroom painting above.

One of my favorite things about this series is that I never know where a painting will lead. I simply respond to the colors and textures left on my palette, allowing the composition to emerge naturally. Even though these pieces weren't intended to depict anything specific, they both seem to have evolved into landscapes.

Fracture feels to me like a dramatic storm, with the earth splitting apart beneath it. Convergence, on the other hand, reminds me of a place where earth, water, and sky come together. I just love that two paintings born from the same palette can end up telling such different stories.

ART FAIRS HAPPENING THIS MONTH!

Just like June, July is also shaping up to be a very full month of art fairs! I absolutely love participating in these events because they give me a chance to share my work and connect with so many new people. Some of my favorite conversations about art have happened at these fairs, and I always leave inspired by the people I meet.
