"Could this be their best Gualtallary to date?"
- Wine Advocate, October 2019

A beautiful purple hue appearance in the glass, the wine exhibits dark berry flavors complemented by soft bits of spice, wildflowers and a wonderfully long, mineral-tinged finish. Awarding 96+ points, Wine Advocate writes...

"After some ups and downs in past vintages, the 2017 Malbec Appellation Gualtallary is every bit as good as the already superb 2016. It's expressive, mineral and vertical, austere, like biting into chalk. It's produced with grapes from a rented plot in a somewhat fashionable appellation that is quite large and diverse. The palate is super austere, dry, serious and mineral, while the nose is expressive and has the wilderness of the place with unusual elegance and freshness for a year like 2017. It finishes long and tasty, with some violets. Could this be their best Gualtallary to date? Drink Date: 2019 - 2030."

2018 Altos Las Hormigas  "Clásico" Malbec
Mendoza, Argentina
Whoa, this  is a GREAT wine for $9.99. As soon as we popped the cork, we were hit with classic Malbec aromas and flavors of blackberry, red plum, raspberry, cocoa nib and tobacco leaf. Fresh, juicy and downright delicious, this one is going to fly!

The wine sees no oak, instead, it spends about nine months in concrete after fermenting in stainless steel. Super balanced and versatile, it may be the best ten buck Malbec we've ever tasted. Pair it with pasta, a burger or even grilled veggies - you just can't go wrong.  Awarding 91 and 92 points, the critics write...

"The unoaked 2018 Malbec Clásico 2018 comes from a very good year, after 2013 and 2014, which were very difficult years, and 2015 and 2016 that saw lots of rain. According to winemaker Leo Erazo, it's the most complex wine to make because of the many different sources of grapes, growers and the volume they make. But they planted 22 hectares in 2012, so they use more of their own grapes; the wine now has some 30% of grapes from Valle de Uco, which is always a cooler region that is noticed in the wine, which is very balanced, harmonious and easy to drink. It has a dusty note and fine tannins; it's elegant and especially very drinkable. Drink Date: 2019 - 2022."
- 91 Points, Wine Advocate (10/31/2019)

"This has aromas of brambly dark berries and violet flowers with cassis in the mix, too. The palate has a juicy and succulent feel with fine tannins that make a long, even and attractive shape. Drink or hold."
- 92 Points, James Suckling (3/27/2019)
