PRESS RELEASE:
A series of fast and record-breaking meets are scheduled to debut at a dazzling new indoor track in January and February at the Tryon International Indoor Facility, a 3,500-seat indoor arena in Mill Creek, North Carolina that totals over 280,000-square feet, continuing a two-year roadmap of Coach O meets that have featured events in the sprints, hurdles and jumps at the facility.
Coach O will host four top-level youth track and field meets at the venue, which recently installed a custom-designed and adjustable Mondo Super X 720 track over the 2025 calendar year. The 200-meter track, which will feature six lanes on the globe's most responsive and bouncy track, will have 12-degree banking on the curves, making it one of the fastest indoor tracks in the country.
"Between Coach O's history in hosting exceptional track and field meets and the new and exciting track at the Tryon International Indoor Facility, we are delighted by the possibility of what each meet will bring, and we are incredibly excited for what's to come," said Charles Oliver, the founder of Coach O.
The indoor events center, owned and operated by Tryon International, has specialized in equestrian sports since 2014. In 2025, however, its rapid expansion will feature competitions such as track and field, pickleball, volleyball and other sports.
Coach O is excited to bring a full slate of action to the emerging facility in North Carolina, bringing with it exceptional expertise in track and field programming, including a series of master's races within each meet.
"We are extremely excited that the Tryon oval is being installed and we will host a full set of events starting with our Jan. 3 meet," Oliver said.
In late January, the new and innovative Carolina Cup will pit competitors from North Carolina and South Carolina against one another in a battle of the borders, with teams and athletes from each state vying for pride and hardware (including a newly-designed trophy that will stay with the winner).
Our 2026 indoor calendar is as follows at Tryon:
- Jan. 3: Blue Ridge Mountain Invitational
- Jan. 18: Coach O Track & Field Classic
- Jan. 24-25: Carolina Cup Challenge
- Feb. 7-8: Tryon Coach O International Festival
