High-wage jobs with long-term career trajectories, most offering a full range of employee benefits like essential health, vision and dental, retirement contributions and more are going unfilled because of the mismatch between low skilled, underemployed, or currently unemployed people in our state and the jobs employers are dying to fill.
The State set aside $20 million dollars to fund workforce training, at no cost for residents who desire to pursue a career path that is likely to change the trajectory of their economic condition, lifestyle, and family future.
Therefore, I am asking every Chamber member and elected elected official to promote and assist in signing people up for Forward Delaware. In addition, every nonprofit serving people who have struggled for years, find themselves out of work, or have had few good paying job prospects, should do similarly.
The volatile and challenging economic conditions employers find themselves in says very loudly, the future is now, and it will be owned by the States that rebuild their workforce quickly. Failure means fewer employers survive or stay here, and fewer still decide to locate here. A college degree still means something, but there are other pathways to success, and lifelong skills training is the vehicle to prosperity for two-thirds of the workforce.
