Dear Friend,

If you’re fortunate in life, your job becomes a passion that you have the privilege of pursuing every day. My 28 years with the Santa Monica Education Foundation have been an honor and a joy. The Ed Foundation has always been about enriching the quality of education children receive, regardless of where they live in the community. It’s been about engaging the community to invest in a vibrant educational experience for all students in our public schools. My belief in the Ed Foundation’s mission has resonated in my heart and in my head all of these years.

I wanted to share the news of my upcoming retirement with you. While I will soon be stepping away as the Executive Director, I’m looking forward to staying involved with our schools and our community. I now have four grandchildren who live here in town, three of whom are old enough to go to our public schools. Watching them on their educational pathway in our schools makes me happy. So, it’s full-circle for me!

This is an incredible community that demonstrates how much it cares for our children over and over again. I will be forever thankful for that. I have met and worked with so many wonderful people – the leadership in City Hall, Downtown Santa Monica, the Chamber of Commerce, Santa Monica College, the Pier, and Pacific Park, among so many others. Corporate support for our public school students has been strong and will only grow stronger. When you give to the Education Foundation, you are investing in every student in Santa Monica’s public schools, and I am so appreciative of our community for understanding and supporting that.

It has been an honor to work with those who have stepped up along the way to join the Ed Foundation’s mission. Each and every one of you has been an inspiration to me. From generous donors, large and small, to the diligent finance committee members, to the attentive investment committee team, to the discerning audit committee, to the incredible PTAs, to the amazing Wine Auction volunteers, and to a committed District staff and School Board, I say, “Bravo and thank you!” Lastly, I want to especially acknowledge my stellar staff and dedicated Board of Directors, past and present, without whom I couldn’t have done my job. I am deeply grateful to have shared this journey with you and immensely proud of what we have accomplished together.

The Ed Foundation Board will soon be sharing news of what’s next, and I have pledged to remain in my role as a search is launched for my successor. I’ve never been more excited for what the future holds for the Ed Foundation and for our schools and families. I look forward to supporting this work even as I prepare to retire from my day-to-day duties.

With gratitude to you all,

Linda Greenberg
