A Peak into Classrooms:

Opening Day & Grade VI Blue Hills Hike!

Returning students were thrilled to come to campus after the summer recess. The first day of school was filled with laughter and reconnection with friends and beloved faculty. "My summer was okay but I wish we could just live at Shady Hill all the time," said an incoming first grader. New students have also settled in to the Shady Hill routine, forming life-long friendships. "I really like Shady Hill because sometimes I have P.E and Music on the same day," recalled a Beginner. Meanwhile, Middle School students were eager to dive into their Central Subject. Grade VI students participate in several challenges throughout the year to earn beads, featuring their central theme of "rites of passage." Some are social and emotional, and others are academic or physical. To launch the year and earn their first bead they hike in small groups staying together, taking turns leading and navigating. "I don't like to hike. I never walk with my family, but it wasn't so bad. My group was nice. I feel stronger." Congrats to this awesome cohort on a job well done!
