The Communications and Advancement Offices and the Alumni Board are pleased to bring you this special edition of A Place to Belong, showcasing three musical performances from this past spring. While students were not able perform for the community in the Assembly Hall, thanks to the brilliant leadership of Performing Arts Chair Darin Goulet and Jazz Band Director Pandelis Karayorgis, you can treat yourself to your very own Shady Hill concert with following performances. We hope you enjoy!
Presenting...
Harambee Harambee
Daudi Kabaka

Grade VI performs "Harambee Harambee", a Kenyan classic written by Daudi Kabaka. The Swahili word harambee can be translated to "all pull together" – an apt choice for the times we live in! In addition to singing, students play homemade instruments.
Four
Miles Davis

The Gold Jazz Band performs "Four" by Miles Davis. "Four" was released on the album Blue Haze in 1954. In this arrangement, the guitar, bass, and electric cello play the melody in unison, followed by a guitar solo and then a return to the main melody.
Wo He Ni/ you and me
Chen Qigang

Grade V performs Wo He Ni, the theme song of the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing. This arrangement includes original compositions from ten of last year's fifth graders. The original compositions are displayed visually using the music platform Song Maker. Each color represents a different note!
