Yoga for Every Season of Life
One of the most powerful things about yoga is that it can grow and change alongside us.
Our practice may support us through stressful seasons, physical changes, aging, recovery, pregnancy and the everyday demands of life.
Some days, yoga challenges us to build strength. On other days, it asks us to slow down, modify and listen more closely.
We recently sat down with Southern Om member Madison, who is now eight months pregnant, to talk about how she has adapted her established hot yoga practice throughout her pregnancy.
“Showing up to class every day has helped me stay aware and notice, in the moment, how my changing body feels,” Madison shared.
As her body has changed, so has her practice. She has created more space in poses, adjusted her balance and learned to release expectations about what her body “should” be able to do.
“The most challenging part was realizing that we’re not the same person today that we were three or four months ago—and learning to accept that this change is good,” she said.
That lesson reaches far beyond pregnancy.
