Dear Bethelites and Friends:
I wanted to send a brief prayer of protection as we prepare for Hurricane Ian over the next few days. Please know that Deana and I are praying for you and your family as we “Hunker Down” during this category 5 storm. Continue to keep the faith and shelter in place.
I know that God didn’t bring us this far to simply bring us this far and leave us now. Please forward this prayer to your family and or friends who may reside in Florida via email, text, or via Facebook. Let’s continue to keep the faith!!
Let us pray.
Our Father and our God, we seek your protection today from Hurricane Ian, which is now upon us. Our trust is only in you as you protect us from this dangerous storm. We have heard from meteorologists who have tried to predict the trajectory of this storm. We have listened to storm experts for the last few days. Persons with degrees in atmospheric science have shared thoughts concerning the storm surge from the Gulf of Mexico, the intensity of the wind that will pound against our homes, and the amount of rain we will experience in our cities.
However, scripture is clear in Isaiah 41:10, where it says, fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Today, we are clinging to your Word! God, thank you for reminding us that we should not have a spirit of fear, especially during moments of uncertainty. As this storm invades our cities in the state of Florida, please provide assurance for our safety! Give us a Can Do Spirit even right now.
When the way seems dark, show us the light. When the way seems rough, give us a level plain. When the storm arises, calm the winds that trouble us mentally and outside of our homes. And then, Dear God, when evening falls, give us the peace of mind that surpasses all understanding. Give us the blessed assurance that you will never leave us nor forsake us during our time of need.
We thank you in advance for what you are going to do, and we promise that we will not take credit for the divine intervention you will provide – today, henceforth, and forevermore. This we pray in the name of Jesus the Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
Please remain safe and know that we are praying for you and your family.
