A New Look at Thanksgiving

A Reflection by Dean Shambaugh,

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love gathering with family. I love Thanksgiving hymns and prayers and the story of Indigenous peoples helping European settlers to survive their first winter here and the celebration of that in a feast. A film from Sacred Ground changed that Thanksgiving forever.

Since first arriving here with my husband, Christian Clough, the Cathedral’s new Canon for Liturgy and Music, I have felt the amazing energy, character, and commitment of this holy place. With Dean Shambaugh’s encouragement, I am now excited and honored to roll up my own proverbial sleeves to serve alongside all of you.
