Dear Members of Northridge Presbyterian Church,
You may recall that months ago a Reopening Task Force consisting of Ann Binford, Ruth Johnson, Lee Jones, Nancy Kelly, Todd Moore, Rob Raymond, and Don Zentmeyer was appointed. This task force was charged "to advise the Session on the conditions, timing, manner, and method to reopen Northridge Presbyterian Church to in-person worship and other group activities." This Task Force approached their charge with commitment and great care and ultimately submitted a document to Session offering guidelines and parameters for how and when to begin gathering again.
Your Session took great care in reading and discussing the document and ultimately in making a decision about our next step toward reopening. At the most recent Session meeting, Session voted to begin gathering outdoors, allowing staff and committees to plan outdoor gatherings. Session also appointed a COVID Response Coordinating Team (CRCT).
The CRCT will consist of:
- Tory Chauza
- Margaret Floyd
- Rob Raymond
- Rob Taylor
- Jason Treadway
Betsy Swetenburg, ex officio
The CRCT will serve until full in-person, indoor worship, education, and community activities resume on behalf of Northridge Presbyterian Church, on-site or off. Their role will be ongoing and require assessment of current Dallas County and all other governmental and scientific COVID-19 statistics and guidelines, development and adjustment of protocols for programs sponsored by Northridge, as well as by others using Northridge property, and communication and coordination with the Session, committees, staff, congregation, and public. Operating within the parameters set by the Session and guidance contained in the final report of the Reopening Task Force (August 18, 2020), they may implement policies and procedures, and authorize use requests.
In short, the CRCT will be sure that committees are equipped with the guidelines prepared by the Reopening Task Force and can plan functions within those parameters. This group will also begin equipping us for the time when we can come back into the building for worship and other gatherings. Ultimately, the decisions related to how and where we gather rest with Session, however, this group will help equip Session for those conversations and ensure that we can follow the guidelines created by the Reopening Task Force.
Maybe you're asking yourself: if Session has voted then how soon can we gather?
I'm excited to share some upcoming opportunities for in-person connection.
