A Rich Legacy

Working with Rich at the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce has been a great honor to all of us. As his colleagues, we wanted to do something very special to honor the work he has done over the past 26 years at the State Chamber. An endowed scholarship at Delaware Technical Community College has been established in Rich’s name. The annual earnings of which will be used to fund scholarships for students enrolled in short-term training and certificate courses. We invite all of you to participate in honoring Rich. No contribution is too small. Thank you to the many who have already made a contribution.

2. In the “Gift Designation” field, select “ Other - Please note below ”

3. In the “Special Donor Instructions” field, type: Fund 158, A. Richard Heffron Scholarship Endowment

4. Please complete information in the “Tribute” section of the online form to identify that this gift is in honor of Rich.

On Monday, June 18, Governor John Carney presented DSCC President Rich Heffron with the Order of the First State during a celebration of Rich's retirement. Rich will retire on June 30, 2018, after a career of more than 26 years with the State Chamber. He also received recognition from Delaware's Senate and House of Representatives. Congratulations, Rich!

This Week in Dover

This week the Senate passed the FY2019 $4.27 billion budget, where it will now come before the House for consideration before June 30. Contained within are raises for state workers, increases to special education funding, and it sets aside $46 million in deferred spending for next year’s operating budget.

Message from the President

This will be my final President’s letter, as I will be retiring on June 30. My last official function will be attending the 149th General Assembly closing legislative session, which will recess some time on the morning of July 1. This will be the conclusion of a 26½ year career with the Delaware State Chamber, having served as Senior Vice President for Government Affairs, three times as interim president, and concluding with a 3½ year term as President.
