Your Top FIVE to THRIVE

September 2024

#1 Looking FRESH!

Women United, in collaboration with our Instant Impact grant process, granted ECDC Wausau Multicultural Community Center $6,000 for back-to-school haircuts and braids.

In addition, funds are being used for their Shades of Beauty initiative, which provides hygiene and beauty care specifically catered to black women.

It's more than just a haircut or hard-to-find products, it's SELF CONFIDENCE to those who are in a new country and experiencing everything new... a new language, new schools, and new home.

Jennifer Johnson and Julie Burmesch, on behalf of Women United, presented a check to ECDC Friday, August 30.

#5 You Can Make a Difference with Your Rake...and a Little Sweat.

Whether it’s a free workout or you just want to help others who are unable to, we’re looking for volunteers to help Make a Difference by raking leaves.

Many elderly or disabled homeowners struggle with seasonal lawn care, especially leaf removal.

The cost of hiring these services is often out of reach. United Way of Marathon County is stepping in to make a difference by coordinating volunteers to rake these yards, enabling homeowners to care for and remain in their homes without bearing an extra financial burden.

This is a great opportunity for workplaces and groups of friends and family.

  • Raking Days: Wednesday - Saturday, October 23 – 26 (Rain dates Monday, October 28 and Tuesday, October 29).

  • Leaf Pickup/Hauling Days: Monday, October 28 and Tuesday, October 29.
