Government Corner
Happy November, Spartans!

Our new blog, Spartan Voice by A.S., was recently launched in October. Be sure to read the blog by Carole Dowell, A.S. Executive Director, on lifelong learning, one of the eight core values of Associated Students. Soon to be released this month is our blog on environmental advocacy written by Alan Nguyen, a student assistant in our Transportation Solutions department.

Transportation Solutions is currently running its Annual Commute Survey through November 15th. We’d love to hear your feedback and opinions. You’ll be entered to win a prize once you complete the survey. Winners will be chosen using a randomizer. Take the survey here.

In response to the international crises in Afghanistan and Haiti, Associated Students started a donation drive in September. A carnival-themed donation event led by the A.S. Programming Board is scheduled this Tuesday, 11/09, on 7th Street Plaza from 11 AM - 3 PM. Donate to a good cause while you enjoy games and chances to win free A.S. merch.

A.S. Committees are actively recruiting for students-at-large! If you want to get more involved with student government, this is a great opportunity to do so. The committees operate throughout the academic year. Read up on the different committee descriptions here and apply to the one you feel you can best serve on by filling out this form!

Associated Students has in-person and virtual events planned for you to stay engaged and have some fun! Find out more about A.S. Events in the newsletter section below or follow us on Instagram @as_sjsu. We hope to see you there!

Last but certainly not least, please remember to stay safe, vigilant, and healthy by following COVID-19 guidelines such as wearing masks and practicing social distancing. For more information about COVID-related information, visit the Student Health Center.

Wishing everyone a safe and productive November! Spartan Up!
