As we celebrate the accomplished scholars and gentlemen of the Class of 2021, we are thrilled to announce the completion of a major milestone in our building project. Last month, the façades of the c.1866 townhouses on East 78th Street were revealed to the delight of the Allen-Stevenson and Upper East Side community.
The fronts of these adjoining structures were completely restored to their 19th-century charm under the careful eye of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. However, behind these historic building façades are state-of-the-art classrooms, studio and performing art spaces, a gourmet kitchen and dining room, and a teaching greenhouse perched atop.
Earlier this year, we unveiled our regulation-size light-filled rooftop gym — a much-anticipated facility for our boys to enjoy a robust physical education program and a place for alumni to gather and play in the months and years to come. To support our athletics program, we have outfitted the 6th floor of the building with a secondary multipurpose athletic space, a mini-locker room and restrooms.
