Welcome to 2024

Happy New Year!

As the MVSCH team kicks into full gear in the dawn of 2024, I'd like to highlight a few digital resources for use in your classrooms or as a recommendation for those students interested in STEAM-centered learning and career exploration.

  • Closing the Gap - our podcast featuring women and gender minorities working in STEAM and the skilled trades;
  • A Step Ahead - our career exploration video library;
  • Millin' About - a playful podcast for makers by makers;
  • YouTube - our YouTube channel is home to a myriad of STEAM and experiential learning content.

Let's also talk about a few undeniably awesome MVSCH programs and events you should keep an eye out for in the year to come. Educator Externships (registration opens in March) is a summer program educators will definitely want to get in on to learn about the amazing local career opportunities that may be of interest to their students. Scheduling an experiential learning session for your classroom in The MILL is a great way to bring your students together for some teamwork and design thinking. Finally, we can't forget our Mobile Makerspace as a resource for out-of-school hands-on STEAM activities.

We look forward to seeing you in 2024,

Kacey Montgomery,

Marketing Specialist

2023 Year in Review

The Hub team created an incredible number of STEAM and experiential learning opportunities in the Linn and Benton county communities in 2023. The programs our team orchestrated forged connections for students, educators, families, and industry to work towards career readiness through STEAM and career-technical education. Here are some snapshots of our favorite moments of students learning and exploring in 2023.

Farewell, Danielle!

Danielle Jarkowsky has been a part of the MVSCH team since early 2022, taking charge

of the role of Business and Industry Outreach

and Equity Specialist. In her time with the Hub, Danielle has made countless contributions that have pushed the momentum of MVSCH forward.

She has served as an integral part of our team, leading our career-connected learning program development and contributing to the success of the Hub across countless initiatives in profoundly positive ways.

We are sad to see Danielle leave but excited to support her on her next adventure as an Academic Advisor for the Oregon State Univerity College of Business.

Best of luck, Danielle!
