For the last few weeks, our offices have been a joyful bustle of calls and emails expressing interests to volunteer, offer donations or to drop off gifts for the families we serve in the community. We feel honored to be able to ensure that your generosity gets to the people who need it most. Being able to offer a family in need the warmth of home and the space to enjoy the closeness of family and friends is the most wonderful gift of all! We look forward to working with you in the new year with renewed aspirations and resolve to continue to disrupt the cycle of homelessness in our community.

Are you originally from Bellingham?   I am actually from Massachusetts.  It is great to still be by the ocean, but the two coasts are amazingly different in landscape and culture. I am enjoying getting to know Bellingham and Washington in general.

Do you have any plans and dreams for the New Year?  To take more camping trips with the family. There are so many beautiful places are Washington that I would like to visit. My family and I are planning to hike and camp on Mt Rainer this summer, which I am so excited about. 

How did you get involved with Lydia Place?  I started working for Lydia Place 2 months ago. I believe strongly in its mission. I feel it is important to support people when they are going through difficult times, whether that is family or people in our community.

This little lady hosted a garage sale to raise money for others in need. She used the proceeds to purchase wish list items for Lydia Place clients- everything from pillows to diapers for the littlest ones. Her kindness+compassion filled our hearts!
