I am grateful to the families who trust us to support their students as they face challenges and celebrate successes. I am grateful to our partners who inspire us every day with their passion for scholars. And I am humbled by the support you, our friends, new and old, provide in your time, talent and treasure.
November provided time and space for shift_ed to share the impact we are having in classrooms and in the community. I hope you enjoyed seeing the ways we partner with Guilford County Schools, local colleges and non-profits, businesses and individuals to boldly accelerate student potential.
Today I am proud to announce that the application is open for shift_ed scholarships. shift_ed's new scholarship model ensures that students who need the most support receive the most scholarship dollars. This change was critical to narrowing the opportunity gap that exists for our students.
Most impressively, starting in Fall 2023, scholars who receive the maximum Pell Grant will be eligible for an Acceleration Grant of $1,250 a year, an increase of $900 over previous awards.
I am grateful for the tireless work by staff and board members who made these bold changes that I know will be transformational for our students.
Holidays, end-of-year performances, championship games and family gatherings seem to demand every non-working hour on my calendar. Still there is room for gratitude.
