SCC 2017 Annual FUNd

Hoping for 150 Donations

Your support of the 2017 SCC Annual Fund drive will help us build on the spectacular momentum of the past year.

As the pace of development accelerates in our City, providing more affordable housing and better access to good jobs is critical to helping people of all socio-economic backgrounds thrive here.

It is equally important to provide opportunities for poor, working-class and middle-class people to have a voice and seat at the table in deciding the future of our City.

You Are Invited to the SCC Annual FUNd
Open House and Cake Party

Come celebrate our members, friends and accomplishments at the Cake Party:

December 21st
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
337 Somerville Avenue
Somerville, Mass.

Be part of the cake contests and end-of-the-year fun with fellow SCC friends and staff.

The holiday season gives us the chance to communicate how much we appreciate the people who make a difference in our lives. Thank you -- our members, supporters, staff, partners and friends -- for powering the work that SCC does to keep Somerville a diverse, thriving community.

We also are in the midst of both our Annual Fund drive and our Social Equity Campaign (CITC).

Take care, have great holidays and we will be in touch in the new year.

Sincerely,
SCC CEO Daniel LeBlanc

PS -- As you finalize your year-end giving, please consider SCC.

On Monday November 27th more than 50 people went to Somerville City Hall to participate in the public hearing on the citizen's petition to implement a Jobs Linkage fee at $2.46 per square foot (over 15,000 square feet) and to increase the affordable housing linkage fee to $10.00 per square foot (over 30,000 square feet).  Read more.

We like to think of the holiday season as a time of joy and celebration. Sometimes, it is. Sometimes, though, this season - and the rough winter that follows - can bring with it anxiety and worry about how to provide holiday happiness and winter security for those we love.

Here in Somerville, there are a number of agencies and services to help.

Gratitude from SCC to All of You
SCC Deputy Director Meridith Levy reminds us during this season of gratitude that  SCC is able to accomplish all we do each year thanks, in large part, to the ongoing hard work of members, supporters and partners.

Each step of the way, you are there, making a difference in the lives of Somerville residents and the future direction of the City.  Read more.

House Parties: The SCC Way

One of our most cherished strategies for our Social Equity Campaign is the famous "house party." These are events hosted by SCC members who reach out to their neighbors and networks to come to their homes and learn about SCC, the Social Equity Campaign, and the Community Investment Tax Credit (CITC) program.

In a nutshell, CITC is a state program that enables SCC to give a 50% tax credit to anyone who donates at least $1.000 (plus people are eligible for the federal charitable deduction).

When we asked for recommendations for good reads on economic development issues earlier this fall, we were not sure what the response would be.

We are thrilled to have received so many excellent recommendations.  Read more.
